Helping Families Thrive!
We’re Not Just Talk Therapy!
A Message From Our Founder: Dr. Kay Trotter
You see, I could never sing nor dance, but I have been profoundly impacted by personal, life-changing experiences that allow me to support my clients and my counselors with empathy and compassion. I truly believe the divine intervention of God’s spirit has led me on this path and given me the means to inspire people to find their voice. To sit with another individual and talk with them, or maybe even just sit quietly with them without talking, is a powerful energy of healing. Every day yields new learning experiences and I am humbled by the constant awareness that the answers to our problems are not found in our head; The answers are found in our heart.
My vision for Kaleidoscope Behavioral Health is to truly touch the lives – physically, emotionally, and spiritually – of those that God has brought together.
AT Kaleidoscope, WE OFFER A FULL RANGE OF THERAPEUTIC SERVICES FOR EVERY MEMBER OF THE FAMILY.
Play therapy responds to the unique developmental needs of children, who express themselves better through play activities than through verbal communication. Children explore their lives and freely express repressed thoughts and emotions through play. Therapeutic play helps children learn to communicate better, build confidence, change their behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and relate to others in positive ways.
Talk therapy can be very threatening and intimidating, boring or too intrusive to tweens. Activity Therapy allows the tween to explore their thoughts and feelings with the distance of an activity, decreasing the threat of talking about the concern. With the safety of the activities, they are free to explore and ultimately resolve their issue.
Teens, unlike adults, often need more innovative ways to express themselves than through “talk therapy.” That is why Kaleidoscope offers multiple approaches to counseling teens to best suit the needs of the individual client. Approaches may include talk therapy, group therapy, and expressive therapy. Expressive Therapy combines psychology and the creative process to promote emotional growth and healing.
